How POSUSA Works
You can set up POSUSA in minutes: create a free account, answer three setup questions, add your menu, and you're ready to take your first cash sale the same day.
Step 1: Create your free account
Enter your name, business name, the store URL you want, and an email and password. You can also sign up with Google. There's no credit card required and nothing to install.
Step 2: Answer three setup questions
Pick your business type: restaurant or cafe, food truck, bar, retail, services or other. Tell us whether you plan to take cards: yes, cash only, or not sure yet. Then choose your currency. You can change any of these later in Settings.
Step 3: Choose how you'll take payments
Cash works right away. Ring up the sale, mark it paid in cash, and the register shows the change due.
Want to take cards? During signup, we'll set you up with Square for tap-to-pay and a free card reader. Prefer to take cards inside POSUSA? Connect a Stripe account in Settings. Square runs separately from POSUSA, so if you go that route, your card sales live in Square and your cash sales, menu and seating live in POSUSA.
Step 4: Add your menu
Add products one at a time, or upload a photo or PDF of your menu and let the AI import build it for you. Group items into categories and add modifiers for sizes and extras. Your menu page at app.posusa.com/your-store-name goes live as soon as you save your first product.
Step 5: Take your first order
At the counter, tap items on the register, choose cash or card, add a tip if the customer wants one, and print or email the receipt. For table service, seat the party on your floor plan, open a tab and let them pay at the table by scanning a QR code.
How long does it take to set up POSUSA?
Your store is live in minutes. Signing up and answering the setup questions takes a couple of minutes, and your menu page goes public with your first product. Card processing is a separate step with Square or Stripe. They verify your business and bank details, which is often same-day but can take longer if they ask for documents.
Where does my money go?
With Stripe connected, card payments go to your own Stripe account and are deposited to your bank on the schedule set there, typically about 2 business days. With Square, payouts follow your Square account's schedule. Cash is yours the moment it hits the drawer.
What does POSUSA cost?
The software is $0 a month with no contract. The only cost is card processing, and you decide whether an optional card fee covers it or you pay it yourself. See the full POSUSA pricing.
