Does POSUSA work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. POSUSA runs in a web browser, so it works on the phone, tablet or laptop you already have. There's nothing to download or install. Ring up items, take cash or card, open a tab and close it later, add a tip, apply a promo code and print a kitchen ticket.
Does POSUSA work with a card reader?
Yes. POSUSA works with Stripe Terminal readers, including the BBPOS WisePOS E and the Stripe S700, for tap, chip and swipe at the counter. If a reader goes offline, you can switch to online card entry and keep selling.
Does POSUSA handle tips, sales tax and card fees?
Yes. Customers can tip 15%, 18%, 20%, 25% or a custom amount, or you can turn tips off. Set your sales tax rate once and it applies to every sale. You can also add an optional card fee so card customers help cover processing. Here's how the card fee works.
Online and QR
Can customers order online with POSUSA?
Yes. Every POSUSA store gets its own menu page at app.posusa.com/your-store-name. Customers browse your menu, pick modifiers, add a tip and pay online. The page goes live as soon as you add your first product, and online payment turns on once you connect Stripe.
Does POSUSA support QR code ordering?
Yes. Print your QR code from the dashboard and put it on tables, the counter or your truck window. Customers scan it to order and pay from their own phone. You can also open a tab at the register and let the table pay by scanning when they're done.
Menu and tables
How do I build my menu in POSUSA?
Add products, group them into categories and attach modifiers like sizes, toppings and add-ons. You can add up to 50 products, which covers most small menus. Already have a printed menu? Upload a photo or PDF and POSUSA's AI import creates the products for you. It can also write product descriptions you can edit.
Does POSUSA have table management?
Yes. Table seating includes a drag-and-drop floor plan editor. Seat guests, see which tables are open, seated, reserved or need cleaning, and keep every device in sync in real time. You can set up more than one floor plan for different rooms or a patio.
Can I run promotions and track customers?
Yes. Create promo codes for a percentage or dollar amount off, with usage limits and expiration dates. Codes work on cash sales too. POSUSA also keeps a customer list from your orders, with contact details, notes and order history.
Money and reporting
Can I send invoices and quotes?
Yes. Build an invoice or quote with line items and email it to your customer, who pays online. Quotes convert to invoices when they're paid, and every paid invoice shows up in your orders with the rest of your sales. Invoicing requires a connected Stripe account.
What reporting does POSUSA have?
The analytics page shows your sales, revenue, tips and trends over time. The orders page lists every order from the register, your menu page, QR codes, card readers and invoices, with a filter for each source.
Does POSUSA send receipts and order alerts?
POSUSA emails a receipt automatically whenever a customer email is captured. New orders play a sound in your dashboard, and you can print a kitchen ticket when an order goes to the back.
Does POSUSA work outside the US?
Yes. POSUSA supports more than 30 currencies, so you can price your menu and sell in your local currency.
What works before I set up card payments?
Cash sales, your menu page, QR codes, table seating, promo codes and your customer list all work the moment you sign up.
Want to take cards? During signup, we'll set you up with Square for tap-to-pay and a free card reader. Prefer to take cards inside POSUSA? Connect a Stripe account in Settings. Square runs separately from POSUSA, so card sales taken through Square stay in your Square account.
What doesn't POSUSA do?
POSUSA is built for small businesses with simple operations, so a few things aren't included. There's no inventory tracking, no kitchen display screen (kitchen tickets print instead), and each account covers one location. The product limit is 50. If you need those, a paid POS system is the better fit.
